Tara Savelo Branding
Role: Sole Animator / Designer
Kicking things off, I had a zoom session with the client, to better understand the branding identity we were going to ideate together. Through this conversation we aligned on simple, elegant logo marks with overlapping letters that could be applicable everywhere across her current social media channels. It was helpful for the client to share some of their favorite iconic monograms for inspiration, which helped me figure out what parts of luxury branding they were into. These brands exuded beauty and she and I kept coming back to the Louis Vuitton logo and branding throughout our initial conversations.
I got to work in Illustrator, playing with serif and script fonts to exemplify the desired high-end feel. We went through quite a few rounds of designs, and at first, we had a good mix of script and serif fonts, but as we pushed deeper into the design phase, it was decided to continue forward with just serif typefaces.
Focusing on making sure the "T" (for Tara) and "S" (for Savelo) were visibly connected while still remaining legible. In addition to the Louis Vuitton branding, they have a very iconic pattern used across their bags and tissue papers. Every part of the client’s own pattern was picked to feel elegant and beautiful, and inspired by various marks relevant to Tara and her work. The heart came from a tattoo they have, the lipstick kiss is a known signature across her finished paintings, the "T" or is in her handwriting, and the "XoXo" is another signature / saying commonly used by Tara.
When it came time for motion, we kept it pretty simple, using the newly created pattern and her handwriting for various textures. I wanted to create a velvet / sleek aesthetic for the intro and end cards. Calling back to various themes in luxury and elegance. Something that the client adored was the bookend of her digitally signing each video, intending for each video to be a finished artwork of hers.
